Hamilton Plant Hire runs an extensive fleet of construction equipment, including tracked and wheeled excavators, tipper lorries, backhoe loaders, site dumpers, rollers and attachments. Building on a working relationship of over ten years, the most recent order brings Hamilton Plant Hire’s total Hitachi fleet to over eighty excavators, which represents more than half of their tracked and wheeled excavator fleet. Our aim is to build a fleet of standardised excavators that all share the same high-quality functionality and a strong reputation for reliability. We consider Hitachi Machinery to be the best available and they allow us to provide the best possible service.
Having a standardised fleet guarantees that our team of highly-trained maintenance engineers have an intimate knowledge of every piece of equipment we run. They also ensure that the range of machines we offer is kept to the highest standards in between jobs, ensuring that they arrive on job sites in optimum working condition every time.

Fully adjustable air-suspension seats along with clear visibility and a user-friendly interface that includes a multi-function LCD screen, ensure a comfortable operating cab. State of the Art Machinery, Technology and Telematics
Hamilton Plant Hire invests in only premium brand machinery which, whilst being more expensive to buy, offers a range of benefits which ultimately generates substantial cost savings which are passed on to you the customer as well as providing higher productivity and 17% fuel savings as detailed above.
Machine telematics are a feature of all our larger equipment. Satellite tracking systems clearly provide security and limit the risk of theft, however there are less obvious benefits which ultimately result in savings for you. Remote diagnostics and fault finding enables us to identify a potential problem with a machine before the operator even realises something is wrong. We can detect whether a fuel or air filter requires replacing, we know when the machine is ready for a service, or even if the cab heater is not working correctly by warnings generated and transmitted to our computer system. This in itself can save hours of down time by carrying out pre-emptive repairs and servicing at a time to suit your schedule BEFORE the machine breaks down.
In an attempt to minimise accidents and costly damage charges we have invested in a large number of zero swing machines from 1 ton to 25 ton excavators. This means it is almost impossible for the operator to damage the rear of the machine by swinging it into anything nearby. Further more our excavators are fitted with rear view cameras, with clear LCD screens offering an excellent view all round the machine. Not only does this minimise damage bills but also the costly investigations and related bureaucracy which inevitably ensues following an accident on site.
As a further accident prevention measure our excavators over 8 tons are fitted with fall prevention systems or “boxing rings” as standard.

About Our Fleet
In time for our 125th anniversary this year, Hamilton Plant Hire have continued a successful programme of expansion with a large order of excavators from Hitachi Construction Machinery (UK) Limited.
The order included ZX135 (14 Ton Excavators),ZX85 (9 Ton Excavators) and ZX22 (3 Ton Excavators) - all zero tail swing units. All three models of excavators are ideally suited to achieve high levels of performance even on job sites with confined working spaces. Hamilton Plant Hire have had an increasing number of clients performing motorway and rail line work, making the capacity to maintain working efficiency on these more difficult job sites essential. All models also provide optimum fuel efficiency, taking advantage of the latest technology such as the new TRIAS hydraulic system. Through TRIAS hydraulics, fuel consumption is reduced by 17% without any drop in productivity.
